Really enjoyed reading this post. I wasn't a big NWA guy, and spent most years watching WWF, but I certainly knew of Sting and caught some of his wrestling now and again. I loved the photo of the wrestling team you posted. Great seeing the guys without their outfits and performance make-up on. Cheers!
Thanks for the comment. I got the photo from one of the wrestlers in the picture who I interviewed for a magazine story in the early ‘90s about that wrestling class. I went to live shows regularly for both WWF and NWA in the ‘80s and remember them much better somehow then the stuff I attended decades later. I did a good job of keeping the match programs from most of the shows I went to back in that era as well and recently came across a box with a quite a bit of them, untouched for decades and in great condition.
I loved this. My grandma's favorite wrestler was Sting. We bonded over wrestling and I'm still a massive fan. I loved this read. Great job my friend this was awesome.
Thanks, from my direct experience, Sting invokes more enthused responses from people than any other wrestler, and it’s across multiple age demographics. Every time I wear a Sting shirt out, someone comes out to me and shares a story like yours. Just recently an older gentlemen tracked me down across a parking lot to talk about Sting based on my shirt. The next time, a 20-something did the same.

That's the point. When someone can transend generations like that it's something special.
This was an absolutely incredible read.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. I’ve always been a big fan of Sting and have many fond memories of seeing him wrestle live and on TV.
Great read, and that USA gear from GAB '90 is absolutely iconic. I can't wait to revisit that stuff for my project.
Thanks, I look forward to reading what you write about Sting. There’s so many different topics to choose from in the 1990’s with him to focus on.
